What is music production ?
in a simple sentence, Music production is the process of planning and creation of quality audio tracks.
it consists of planning sessions, recording instruments, vocals, mixing the track, mastering and final rendering, in olden days a music producer was the project manager, kinda director of how different things fits, who have genre specific knowledge, and the business side, even today it's how things work in professional world, anyhow now a days the title of music producer is more biased towards the sound engineer who can do roles of recording, mixing, and mastering,(still proefssional world all these 3 fields have different people who has skills for that particular section like mix engineer, master engineer etc) anyway with introduction to various digital softwares (DAW) and plugins and powerful computers, these days anybody without a sound engineering degree or say studio experice can try their hand on the productin routines and a new term is given to non-professional music makers, 'bedroom producers' :) which literally means one who does all these steps in one's bedroom along with the role of a musician. yes, with affordable digital audio workstations and software plugins which emulates those studio processors and different instruments all packed into an entry level PC/laptop with a good headphone, one can do all the above steps upto an intermediate level, professional stuff still need proper studio setup with room acoustic treatments and good studio monitors (speakers) and other recording hardwares/ audio interfaces etc
Electronic Music Production
Yes, the same processes of music production combined with the role of a musician and a composer, and usually done with just electronic instruments (MIDI controlled) and sometimes live recording,
In electronic music production classes, one will learn how to bring all the processes of creating any popular genre likes EDM/New Age/Chillout etc. You will play the role of the musician, composer, arranger, recording/mixing & mastering engineer, though it may sound huge work, in reality it's not and all these process are easy to learn
(Note: electronic music production is not just for making dance music, one can learn it just to create a single/multi instrument track, like a piano/keyboard piece, add a lil drums maybe, and vocal etc. and do some music production routines to get it close to a studio record )
