Though soundfont are old technology, there are still many good grand piano samples available out there which we can use in our project, a MIDI file can be played and recorded with soundfonts/giga sounds either using software like Synthfont (usually with no settings) or a VSTi plugin to import soundfonts like DSK Sound font player (with VSTi soundfont players there’s opportunity to add sound settings to the raw soundfonts

here’s some good free grand piano soundfonts/giga sampler format

1 ) Maestro Grand Piano – (337 MB) unzipped size (about 900 MB )
Sampled Yamaha CF3 Grand Piano
This is actually in giga sampler format but can be played with the free donation-ware Synthfont (www.synthfont.com)
